IKEA museum |
The first IKEA store was opened in Älmhult in 1958 and in the same renovated building, the New IKEA Museum was opened on June 30, 2016. The museum covers an area of 7000 sqm with approx. 3500 sqm on four levels dedicated to exhibits. To emphasize once again how important it is for IKEA to transport the products (flat packets and not air) at the entrance, a container has been placed that connects the restaurant with different parts of the IKEA museum. The IKEA Museum is the IKEA story of the past, present and future. The museum is divided into three main parts, which are joined by a temporary exhibition that changes several times a year. One of the most durable IKEA products is the KLIPPAN sofa first marketed in 1980. Its design was inspired by the popular cubist furniture at the time. Its success is due not least to the practical construction and the removable and washable cover. Over 100 different models of KLIPPAN sofa covers have been offered. In the IKEA store you can buy different products that are only available here. Even if some look familiar, they may be available in other editions, colors or sizes.
